Police reported that several pedestrians were severely injured following a truck accident on Bayview Drive.
A spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department said the accident happened on Bayview Drive. A truck driver traveling southbound lost control of his vehicle. Eyewitnesses said that the truck spun around multiple times before eventually crashing into a light pole and several pedestrians before it came to a stop.
The police spokesman said three of the pedestrians were badly injured by the vehicle while two others suffered minor injuries. The injured victims were treated at the scene of the crash and then transported to the nearest hospital for further treatment.
The truck driver has been identified as a 45-year-old man. According to the report, he also suffered injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The cause of the accident and the names of the victims are presently unknown at this time. Police are still investigating the accident and no charges have been filed at this time.
