A spinal cord injury can result in permanent disability and even death. Victims of these devastating injuries may require a lifetime of costly medical care and treatment.
If someone else was at fault for your injuries, you may have the legal right to compensation. Although no financial settlement can make up for the damages you have suffered, it can ensure your ongoing care and peace of mind. It will also hold the responsible party accountable for their negligent actions.
To recover damages and receive fair compensation, contact the Law Firm of Anidjar & Levine today. Our Hollywood personal injury lawyers can protect your legal rights and fight diligently on your behalf. Call us to set up a free case evaluation with a spinal cord injury lawyer in Hollywood.
Does it Matter What Caused My Spinal Cord Injury?
Spinal cord damage can occur from a number of different accidents. Data from the National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center (NSCISC) indicates that car accidents are the most common cause. Some of the other common causes of spine injuries include:
- Truck accidents;
- Bicycle accidents;
- Pedestrian accidents;
- Motorcycle crashes;
- Boating accidents;
- Construction accidents;
- Swimming pool accidents;
- Falling objects;
- Slip and fall accidents;
- Workplace accidents; and
- Acts of violence.
If your accident occurred because of someone else’s actions, they are liable for the injuries you suffered. No matter how your injury occurred, we can help. Contact us today to see if you are eligible for compensation for your suffering.
What are My Chances of Recovery?
The NSCISC statistics do not reflect good news for victims of spine injuries. The life expectancy of spinal cord injury victims is much lower than the rest of the population. Victims of severe damage can lose decades of their life. Victims who are partially or fully paralyzed or who experience neurological damage have a less than 1 percent chance of full recovery.
The responsible party in your case is liable for the costs of maintaining lifelong care after this type of damage. A fair settlement can ensure that you receive the care you need and that the person responsible pays for their negligence.
We can help you by building a strong case to establish fault and prove that negligence.

How does a Lawyer Prove Negligence?
We will assemble the necessary evidence to establish fault for the accident and prove the four elements of negligence.
Duty of Care
We will first establish that the at-fault party owed you a duty of care. If you suffered your injury because of a slip and fall, for example, we would consider the business owner responsible. Business owners owe a duty of care to their customers to ensure that their facility is free from potentially hazardous conditions.
Breach of Duty
Next, we will prove the at-fault party breached that duty of care. If the store owner neglected to clean up a spill on a tile floor, they allowed a potentially hazardous condition to exist.
Causation
We will also provide evidence that this breach directly caused your accident. If you slipped in the spill and suffered a back injury, the store owner’s breach of duty was likely to blame.
Damages
Finally, we will offer documentation showing the real, monetary damages you suffered as a result of your injury. We will demonstrate these by providing medical bills, proof of lost wages, and any other documentation showing your injury-related costs.
What is My Spinal Cord Injury Claim Worth?
The costs required to treat a spine injury can be substantial.
For those victims who sustain the most severe back injuries, lifetime care can cost millions of dollars. According to the NSCISC, medical costs can easily exceed $1 million in the first year of treatment. Victims who sustain permanent disabilities or paralysis may also require full-time care, either in their home or at a residential care facility.
We will take all of these factors into account when we calculate the value of your claim. During our calculation, we will consider:
- Doctor and hospital bills;
- Other medical care costs;
- Rehabilitation and therapy costs;
- Lost wages to date;
- Future medical and care costs;
- Loss of future earnings;
- Pain and suffering; and
- Hedonic damages, meaning a loss of enjoyment in life.
In many cases, the insurance company will attempt to settle a claim for pennies on the dollar. Their hope is that a quick cash offer may encourage you to settle for much less than the true value of your claim.
We can help protect you from any unscrupulous actions and ensure that you do not sacrifice any of your legal rights.
