Treatment for your injuries should take precedence over anything else when you are involved in an accident. If you have found yourself in this situation, there are several essential steps to take (if you have not done so already).
Seek Medical Attention
You must seek medical attention if you get involved in any workplace accident, even if your injuries seem minor or nonexistent. Although some injuries might not be apparent to you, a medical professional can identify them. Additionally, the proper diagnosis and treatment of some injuries depend on how quickly you get medical attention.
Keep in mind that a detailed medical report will act as evidence that the accident did indeed occur, and it caused you to sustain injuries.
Involve the Police
A statement given before The U.S. House of Representatives affirms that many victims of accidents that occur in the construction industry fail to file reports for fear of victimization by their employers. Therefore, the police may step in to ensure that your company operates according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommended guidelines.
Reporting the accident to the police or any other relevant government authority can help you prove that your accident occurred.
Call 1-800-747-3733 for more guidance regarding how we can help you obtain the police report connected to your accident.

Collect Evidence Supporting Your Story
You can use your smartphone to take photos and record videos of the accident scene. But if you cannot do so safely, ask one of your colleagues to do it for you. Documentation of unsafe conditions at your workplace should be done immediately, in case your employer attempts a cover-up.
Apart from photo evidence, you might want to collect eyewitness accounts before pursuing compensation from the at-fault party. Take down the name and contact information of any eyewitnesses to the accident, so your Lake Mary construction accident lawyer can contact them at a later date.
Contact Your Insurance Company
According to Chapter 440 of the Florida Statutes, employers are mandated to offer workers’ compensation insurance to their employees. The policy should compensate you for your loss of income and the costs of your treatment. However, you will first need to draft and file a report of the accident with your company. Consult the Law Offices of Anidjar & Levine regarding all relevant rules and timelines.
You may be able to collect various types of damages, such as:
- Loss of income and capacity to earn
- Psychological distress
- Medical bills
- Pain and suffering
- Death and disability benefits
