An officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has suffered critical injuries after he was struck while investigating a deadly hit-and-run.
According to authorities, the incident occurred when officers with the JSO responded to a deadly hit-and-run at the 5700 block of New Kings Road just after midnight Saturday.
During the investigation, officials say a driver struck an officer who was standing outside his patrol car.
The JSO officer was transported by JFRD to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle has been arrested for Driving Under the Influence.
