All Florida insurance policyholders have rights under state law when filing claims. Our attorneys are familiar with these rights and we hold insurance companies liable when they violate these rights. However, when a pipe leak occurs, waiting to pursue a leak can have detrimental effects on your case and the ability to file a claim for compensation.
Property insurers can reduce or deny claims based on a failure to mitigate or prevent further damages that result from the initial leak. Florida law requires that homeowner’s claims must be brought within four years from the date of the initial loss or the homeowner forgoes their right to file.
