It was reported that two people were killed in a motorcycle accident in West Park that left one of the vehicles split in half.
Report says the accident involved a group of bikers who were heading west on Hallandale Beach Boulevard near Southwest 40th Avenue, West Park.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews pronounced two people dead at the scene.
Family members have identified the victims as Oscar Boatwright of Belle Glade, Florida, and Michael McKenzie of Miami. According to witnesses, McKenzie was on his green motorcycle, and Boatwright was riding on his Harley-Davidson moments before the crash.
Boatwright’s Harley-Davidson was split in half from the impact.
Boatwright’s cousin, Glenn Collier reported said “Well, they came down here. He rides motorcycles, and they had a motorcycle event or something down here or somewhere, and he was heading to attending that. Just going to have to fight it out and try to get through it.”
BSO traffic homicide detectives are investigating the crash. Deputies closed several roads in the surrounding area while they investigated. They have since reopened to traffic.
