Police stated that a male pedestrian was severely injured on Greenland Road after he was hit by a pickup truck.
According to officials, the accident happened on Greenland Road, close to Sweetwater Creek Estate, where a man was walking on the sidewalk along the road. The pickup truck driver, a 28-year-old from Jacksonville Southside, was heading east on Greenland Road when he lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road and ran into the pedestrian.
EMS arrived at the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer on-site first aid to the injured pedestrian. Emergency crews reported that the pedestrian, a 42-year-old man, suffered a broken rib from the collision. He was transported to the nearby hospital by ambulance shortly after JFRD arrived.
Eyewitnesses said the driver had been driving recklessly on the road before hitting the pedestrian. No official reason has been given for the cause of the accident and officials say the incident is still under investigation. No further details were released at the time of this report.
