Anidjar & Levine sue Regal Cinemas after a security guard assaults a teen girl; lawsuit claims failure to ensure safety and proper staff oversight.
A movie theater should be a place of safety and escape—not a place where a child is harmed by someone paid to protect her” — Glen Levine
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, UNITED STATES, June 26, 2025 The law firm of Anidjar & Levine, P.A. has filed a civil lawsuit against Regal Cinemas on behalf of a teenage girl, identified in court documents as K.M.B. Doe, after she was sexually assaulted by an on-duty security guard inside a Regal movie theater while waiting for a ride home.
The disturbing incident occurred in late 2024 at a Regal location in South Florida. According to the complaint, 15-year-old K.M.B. Doe had just finished watching a movie and was waiting to be picked up when she was approached by a security guard. Rather than ensuring her safety — the very role he was hired to perform — the guard lured her into an empty auditorium and assaulted her.
The security guard was later arrested, convicted, and sentenced to a lengthy prison term for the attack. However, Anidjar & Levine says Regal Cinemas must also be held accountable for failing to protect a vulnerable minor under its roof.
“Movie theaters are supposed to be a safe and welcoming environment — especially for young people,” said Marc Anidjar, co-founder of Anidjar & Levine. “This child was assaulted in a place that should have protected her. Even worse, it was done by someone wearing a uniform, someone she had every reason to trust. Regal Cinemas must make sure its staff do not pose a danger to the public — and in this case, they failed in the most tragic way.”
A Breach of Trust and Responsibility:
Security guards are hired to protect patrons, deter crime, and ensure safety. When one instead becomes the perpetrator of violence, it represents a devastating betrayal of trust — both to the victim and to the community. The lawsuit filed by Anidjar & Levine claims Regal Cinemas engaged in negligent hiring, supervision, and retention of the guard, and failed to take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of its guests.
“When a business hires someone and gives them a badge and a uniform, they are telling the public: ‘You can trust this person,’” said Glen Levine, partner at the firm. “Regal made that promise — and broke it.”
Seeking Justice for K.M.B. Doe:
The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages for emotional trauma, pain and suffering, and other losses experienced by K.M.B. Doe and her family. The legal team is also calling on Regal to conduct an internal review of its hiring policies and implement more stringent screening procedures for all staff, particularly those in positions of authority.
