Florida Highway Patrol reported that a 23-year-old driver died when a van slammed into a guardrail on I-295 at Blanding Boulevard.
Report also says that this accident near Blanding Boulevard sent another passenger to hospital.
From the report, Cynthia Reyes was driving the Honda Odyssey south on I-295 and for reasons unknown at this time ended up driving into the grass median. Consequently, according to the FHP report, she hit the end of a guardrail. Due to the impact, the van spun around and the left side of the van struck a concrete pole in the median, troopers said.
It was reported that neither of the two occupants of the van, Reyes and her 36-year-old male passenger were wearing seat belts.
Report says the passenger was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The crash closed a portion of the inside lane of the interstate for several hours.
