A Six-Year-Old Boy is Killed After Being Struck by a Car in Hollywood.
According to officials, the accident happened Monday night on SW 22nd Avenue near Freedom Street, in a residential neighborhood just west of Dixie Highway.
Twin Richardson, who lives in the neighborhood said, “It’s just so sad about the little boy is gone. I’m just heartbroken, just so heartbroken, that the little baby is gone.”
Several people who live in the neighborhood said the boy was crossing the street with friends when a driver hit him near Freedom Street, across from Chester Byrd Park.
“When officers arrived, they made contact with the driver who remained on scene and rendered aid to the pedestrian,” said police spokesman Christian Lata.
Richardson said she knows the driver who hit the boy, she and the police are calling it an accident.
“I’m pretty sure it was an accident. It’s just heartbreaking that a baby is gone,” she said.
Police said the crash remains under investigation and at this time it does not appear that any charges will be filed against the driver.
