Fort Myers Police Department is Still Investigating a Crash that has Left a Woman in Critical Condition on Winkler Avenue.
Authorities say the crash happened at the intersection of Winkler Avenue and Colonial Boulevard. A man driving a 2013 Honda Xterra was headed northbound on Winkler Avenue when the accident occurred.
He failed to stop at a red light at the intersection then crashed head-on with another vehicle. The vehicle that was struck was driven by a woman going through a green light headed west on Colonial Boulevard. She was driving a Toyota Corolla.
Emergency rescue workers say the impact left the woman in the Toyota with several injuries. EMS administered aid to the victim before airlifting her to the nearest medical center for treatment, police said.
The Honda Xterra driver suffered only minor bruises to the head which were treated at the scene by EMS.
The identities of both drivers have not been released. Authorities say the crash is still under investigation and no charges have yet been filed.
