Reasons Why Supporting the RMHC Is So Important
There are many worthy causes in the world, and it’s natural to feel uncertain about where charitable dollars should go. In fact, many people are hesitant to donate money unless they know exactly how those funds will be used. With that in mind, supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is a worthy cause indeed.
The RMHC is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families who have children with cancer. These families frequently need assistance during what can be an intensely stressful time. The Ronald McDonald House charity provides them with affordable temporary housing near hospitals so that they may be close to their sick child at all times without having to worry about keeping an apartment, home, or staying in a hotel.
There will always be families who are in need of assistance, but the need for help is often unmet because individuals are unaware of the benefits available to them. The RMHC plays a crucial role during what can be a difficult time for a family.
While the child is receiving treatment, the parents are often forced to miss work in order to care for their sick child. Often, these families have no way of affording a place to stay near the hospital where their child is being treated. The RMHC provides these families with temporary housing so that they may remain close to their child during the particularly stressful time of treatment. This temporary housing makes a huge difference for families as it takes a substantial burden off of their shoulders.
It Helps Families During a Difficult Time
The RMHC provides a place for families to stay while they are taking care of their sick child. For many of these families, this is the first time they’ve had to deal with the serious illness of a child.
Finding a place to stay near a hospital can be stressful and overwhelming. Having to worry about keeping a home clean and managing bills can make the situation even more difficult. The RMHC helps by providing families with a clean, comfortable place to stay while they are focused on the well-being of their child. By offering families a safe place to stay with nutritious meals, RMHC helps families focus on getting the care they need for their child without having to worry about affording a place to stay during treatment.
Free Meals for Families Going Through Hard Times
The RMHC offers free meals for families. This includes the families staying in the facility, the staff of the RMHC, and any guests who may be at the facility. When families are staying at the facility while taking care of their sick child, they may not have the time or ability to prepare their own meals. Having access to healthy, nutritious meals helps families stay strong during an incredibly difficult period.
Sometimes something as simple as offering a free meal can do wonders for an entire family. RMHC makes it possible for families that are seeking treatment for a child with cancer to undergo the treatment process without having to stress over how they’re going to afford their child’s next meal.
Helping Children Through Camp Programs
For many families, the stress of the sick child’s treatment has long-lasting effects. In some cases, the child may never fully recover. For these families, the RMHC hosts special camp programs aimed at helping children regain some of their joy. The programs at these camps include activities designed to help children feel happy and regain some of the normalcy that has been taken from them.
