Two People were Killed in a Crash at the Base of the Edison Bridge in North Fort Myers.
According to authorities, the crash happened at Business 41 and West North Shore Avenue around 5:50 p.m.
A 48-year-old man was driving north on Business 41 while a 67-year-old woman was driving in the southbound lanes.
Florida Highway Patrol reported that the man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, drove off the road and hit a tree in the median before going into the southbound lanes, colliding with the front of the woman’s car.
The man’s car flipped over and came to rest on top of the woman’s car.
Both drivers were killed in the crash. According to FHP, they were both Cape Coral residents.
The crash remains under investigation.
