Emergency Crews with Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) say a Person is Dead After Being Hit by a Car on Bowden Road at Eman Drive.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a driver of a Jeep Cherokee was driving eastbound on Bowden Road when they hit a woman who was walking on the north side of the sidewalk.
Witnesses told police the driver of the Cherokee was driving in a “haphazard way.” They informed officers that the vehicle crossed the westbound lanes, jumping the curb onto the sidewalk then hitting the woman.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to JSO.
JSO thanked the witnesses who stayed on the scene of the crash and kept the driver there.
Police believe drugs and/or alcohol may have been involved.
The investigation is ongoing.
