Motorcyclist Killed In Crash On Baymeadows Road

Report says police have identified the victim of the deadly crash that killed a motorcyclist at the intersection of Baymeadows Road and Bayberry Road.

According to a news release, a 24-year-old man was riding a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Baymeadows Road when a semi-truck carrying seven cars attempted to make a left turn at the intersection with Bayberry Road.

Report says the cyclist braked in the intersection but couldn’t stop in time and struck the left side of the truck. He was reportedly thrown from his motorcycle and died on the scene.

It was reported that the 43-year-old truck driver told police he didn’t see any vehicles before making the turn. An eyewitness said, the motorcyclist was going well above the speed limit; otherwise, the truck would have been able to make its turn in time.

The truck driver was not injured. Police are investigating if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
