The Florida Highway Patrol reports a man in his mid-twenties from New York was killed in an accident involving a truck and his Sport Utility Vehicle on I-95 in Fort Lauderdale.
According to the release by Lt. Alvaro Feola, the crash happened when the tire from a truck flew off, bounced over a dividing wall on Interstate 95 and then crashed into his SUV. The truck was heading south and lost its left front tire. The SUV was in the northbound lanes. She also says, Joseu Alfonso Cala of Tuxedo Park from New York died at the scene of the crash while his 24-year-old passenger Julianna Maria Charles of Winter Garden in Florida was taken to the hospital. She had sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under active investigation. No further details were immediately released.
