A Homeowner Escaped Major Injuries When a Car Crashed Into Her Home in Davie While She was Working.
Davie Police and Fire Rescue crews said they responded to the incident that occurred at the 9300 block of Old Orchard Road, at around 2 p.m., Thursday.
Perla McMaster, the homeowner, said she was working at home when the crash happened, but she was not in her home office. She added there was a dog inside of the crashed car, but it was also OK.
“I work at home. I work with the computer,” she said. “That was what I was doing, and about 2:30, there was a big crash and things coming my way, and I tried to dodge them. I got hit with some debris, but I think I’m OK.”
No one inside of the home was hurt, police said, but McMaster was scraped from the debris.
“It was upside down. The car was upside down,” McMaster said. “Just a laceration, I’m a lucky duck.”
There was a large hole in one of the home’s front walls and extensive damage in the office due to the crash. McMaster said she will be able to stay in the house, and late Thursday night, the front of her home was boarded up.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was ejected from the vehicle. They also revealed that the driver had a medical episode, and as of Thursday afternoon, it does not appear he will be cited for the incident.
The vehicle has been towed away from the crash scene.
