It was Reported by the Police Department that Two of the Four People were Severely Injured in this Three Car Accident on Winkler Avenue in Fort Myers.
According to law enforcement officials, the accident occurred on Winkler Avenue in the northbound lanes. The incident happened when the driver of a Toyota pickup truck accidentally ran a stop sign at Colonial Boulevard. Police reported that the truck hit two other vehicles in the process of crossing through the intersection.
Witnesses said, the pickup truck driver was likely distracted while approaching the intersection. One of the witnesses said, he appeared to be on a phone call just before the accident.
According to the police report, the 34-year-old driver of the pickup truck sustained serious injuries in the collision. Three occupants of the other two vehicles were also injured from the accident, however, the extent of their injuries remains unknown.
Victims were taken by air and ambulance to nearby hospitals for immediate treatment.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
