A 25-year-old pedestrian suffered injuries in a vehicle accident along Pritchard Road, Jacksonville Sheriff reported.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department reported an accident on Pritchard Road at the intersection of Bulls Bay Highway. According to the statement, a 25-year-old man was struck in the crosswalk along the intersection.
The 45-year-old driver of the Ford SUV reportedly drove above the speed limit and was unable to stop at the approaching red light. Then the SUV rear-ended another car, which had stopped for the pedestrian to cross. The SUV pushed the stopped vehicle, which then struck the pedestrian.
Upon arrival, first responders found the victim lying unconscious on the road. They stabilized the pedestrian and transported him to a nearby hospital with severe injuries, authorities reported. Meanwhile, the driver of the rear-ended car also sustained minor injuries but EMS treated the driver on the scene.
It was reported that law enforcement took the SUV driver in for questioning. Law enforcement personnel are still investigating the accident and they have not filed charges at the time of reporting.
