A 25-year-old pedestrian suffered injuries in a vehicle accident along Northeast 10th Avenue, Miami Police reported.
Miami Police Department reported an accident on Northeast 10th Avenue at the intersection of Northeast 82nd Street. According to the statement, a 25-year-old man was struck in the crosswalk along the intersection.
The 45-year-old driver of the Ford SUV reportedly drove above the speed limit and was unable to stop at the approaching red light. Then the SUV rear-ended another car, which had stopped for the pedestrian to cross. Subsequently, the SUV pushed the stopped vehicle, which then struck the pedestrian.
Upon arrival, first responders found the victim lying unconscious on the road. They stabilized the pedestrian and transported him to a nearby hospital with severe injuries, authorities reported. Meanwhile, the driver of the rear-ended car also sustained minor injuries, but EMS treated the driver on the scene.
The police said they took the SUV driver in for questioning. Police are still investigating the accident and they have not filed charges at the time of reporting.
