A 18-year-old pedestrian suffered injuries in a vehicle accident on Beaver Street, Jacksonville Sheriff reported.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department reported an accident on Beaver Street at the intersection of Ells Road. According to the statement, a 18-year-old young man was struck in the crosswalk along the intersection.
The 37-year-old driver of the Fiat 500 reportedly drove above the speed limit and was unable to stop. Then the Fiat rear-ended another car, which had stopped for the pedestrian to cross. The Fiat pushed the stopped vehicle, which then struck the pedestrian.
Upon arrival, first responders found the victim lying unconscious on the road. They stabilized the pedestrian and transported him to a nearby hospital with severe injuries, authorities reported. Meanwhile, the driver of the rear-ended car also sustained minor injuries but EMS treated the driver on the scene.
It was reported that law enforcement took the Fiat in for questioning. Law enforcement personnel are still investigating the accident and they have not filed charges at the time of reporting.
