Several Pedestrians Hospitalized After Accident On Northwest 19th Street

Police reported that several pedestrians have been confirmed severely injured following an accident on Northwest 19th Street after a truck loses control.

A spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department said the accident happened on Northwest 19th Street when a truck driver traveling eastbound lost control of his vehicle. Eyewitnesses said that the truck spun around multiple times before eventually hitting a light pole and several pedestrians on Northwest 19th Street before it came to a stop.

The police spokesman also said three of the pedestrians, all family members, were severely injured by the vehicle while two others suffered minor injuries. The injured victims were transported to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The truck driver has been identified as a 45-year-old man and, according to the report, he also suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The cause of the accident and the names of the victims are presently unknown. Police are still investigating the accident and no charges have been filed at this time.
