Report says a woman was killed by a driver who was distracted while driving on FL-870, at North Fort Lauderdale.
According to the report, the accident sent at least six people to the hospital which includes a victim with a critical injury. The woman was identified as a 43-year-old woman. This woman with at least 13 bicyclists were riding along FL-870, at North Fort Lauderdale when the accident occurred.
It was reported that paramedics transported six victims to the nearest Medical Center. The youngest victim, who is 17 years old, reportedly suffered a scraped knee.
According to Fort Lauderdale Police, it is believed that the driver who hit the group was distracted. The driver, who was a female stayed at the scene and was reportedly cooperative.
A spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale Police officer said speed, alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor.
The crash is still under investigation.
