According to Police, a Woman Injured in a Boating Accident on Sanibel Island was Transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.
Report says Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission responded to a call from Lee County Sheriff’s Office reporting a single-vessel boating accident with injuries. According to FWC Public Information Officer Melody Kilborn, FWC is investigating the incident.
Adam Brown, a FWC public information officer said, the woman is in her mid-30s and her identity has not been released. FWC, Sanibel Police Department and Lee County Emergency Medical Services responded to the accident off Periwinkle Way.
Kilborn said the woman was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries from several propeller lacerations.
There were four other people on board the 21-foot vessel who were not injured.
It was confirmed that FWC is actively investigating this boating accident and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
