A crash on the side of Interstate 75 in Weston caused injuries to a woman and a child after a tractor trailer struck their car.

A 30-year-old woman was taken to Broward Health Medical Center by ambulance while a 4-year-old passenger in the car was airlifted to the hospital in Fort Lauderdale.

The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-75 near the Indian Trace exit. Broward Sheriff’s Office said the car was on the shoulder of the interstate when the tractor trailer slammed into it. Both the woman and the child sustained non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt in the crash.

All southbound lanes of I-75 were closed after the crash happened but all lanes have since reopened.

Investigations are ongoing in order to determine the cause of the crash.
