A Waukegan High female graduate was reportedly killed along State Road 112 in Miami after she fell from her vehicle and was struck by an oncoming SUV.
Lt. Alejandro Camacho, a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, said a woman was driving west in Hyundai Accent on State Road 112 near Okeechobee Road. Report says one of her passengers, 23-year-old Mariah Logan who is a Waukegan High graduate, was hanging from the right rear window of the car as a Range Rover was driving behind the Accent.
Report says Florida Highway Patrol and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the crash along the westbound lanes near the Okeechobee Road exit.
It was reported that troopers shut down part of the highway at the off-ramp to Okeechobee Road for hours while they investigated.
Glen Levine, from the Law Firm of Anidjar and Levine, comments on this crash: “If you or a family member has been involved in an auto accident and the other driver has left the scene of the crash, you need to act quickly. It is best if you can get the names and phone numbers of any witnesses along with a vehicle description. Contact the police immediately and file a police report. Take photos of the crash scene and the damage to your vehicle or property. Contact any businesses or homes in the area that may have video surveillance of what occurred and the vehicle that fled. All of this will assist the police in locating the hit and run driver. Finally you should contact a car accident attorney to help guide you through this difficult process.”
