A cyclist died after a car struck him in a crash that happened along Philips Highway, Southside Jacksonville, police said.
The report says that the male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. It was reported that he was heading southbound on Philips Highway when a driver struck him.
It was confirmed that the driver had left the scene. However, investigators got in touch with the driver shortly after the crash.
The cause of the fatal crash has not yet been ascertained as the police are still investigating the crash. The identity of the cyclist has not been made public.
No arrests have been made, but police said there may be some charges in the future pending the outcome of an investigation.
It was reported that police closed southbound Philips Highway, but the road has since reopened.
