Law enforcement officials say that two pedestrians were injured in a car accident after they were reportedly struck by a van on Southwest 3rd Avenue.
According to reports the accident occurred on Southwest 3rd Avenue near Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Miami. The two pedestrians, 32-year-old woman and 16-year-old teenage girl, were walking on the sidewalk along the road when a van lost control and veered off of the road. The van struck and injured the pedestrians before careening into the shoulder of the road where it came to a stop.
First responders arrived at the scene of the accident shortly after it happened and administered on-site first aid to the victims. EMS reported that the teenage girl suffered a concussion while the woman had a broken rib. Both of them were transferred to a nearby hospital by EMS ambulance.
The van driver was not injured in the accident and was being questioned by officials at the site of the crash. No other details were released to the public and the incident is still under investigation.
