Authorities reported that a 16-year-old teenager and his passenger sustained life-threatening injuries in a single-car accident along International Airport Boulevard.
A spokesperson for Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened near the intersection of Vantage Way South and International Airport Boulevard. A 16-year-old male and his passenger sustained severe injuries in the accident, the report stated.
The victim drove a 2012 Honda Element traveling north on International Airport Boulevard. He attempted to exit onto Vantage Way South West when the vehicle veered off the road. Consequently, his vehicle hit a disabled car and an embankment, according to the spokesperson.
Authorities reported that paramedics transported the two victims to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The driver and his passenger were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incident.
