Fort Myers police have confirmed that two drivers were critically injured after their vehicles collided into each another at an intersection.
Report says the accident happened at the intersection of Michigan Avenue Link and Marsh Avenue. The driver of a Hyundai Sonata was traveling eastbound on Michigan Avenue Link. He attempted to make a left turn and his car was sideswiped by a second vehicle.
The second vehicle was heading southbound of Marsh Avenue when the accident happened.
The impact of the accident left both drivers with severe injuries.
Eyewitnesses said the Sonata driver suffered injuries to his head. The other driver suffered injuries to his arms and legs. The quick arrival of paramedics ensured that no life was lost as first aid treatment was administered on both before transporting them to the nearest hospital.
The first driver was identified as a 37-year-old man while the other was a 30-year-old man.
The intersection was closed for several hours for road crews to clear the affected vehicles from the road. It was later reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
