Two Drivers Injured In Wrong-Way Wreck on North Jefferson Street

It was reported that a head-on crash that left two people were injured happened along North Jefferson Street near Clara White Mission.

According to a spokesman for the Jacksonville Sheriffs’ Office, the driver of a silver car swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a dark gray Toyota in the process.

Report says paramedics has transported both drivers to a nearby hospital. The driver of the silver car was listed in critical condition while the woman, who drove the Toyota had minor injuries according to press report.

Authorities advised people to take an alternate route as a portion of North Jefferson Street near the crash was closed for several hours as police investigated. The street was reopened few hours later.

According to police’s spokesman, it’s not yet known whether the driver was under the influence or driving while distracted. He also confirmed that the accident is still under investigation.
