Three Injured As Car Crashes Into Store In Fort Myers

Fort Myers Police Department says three people have been injured after a car crashed into a store.

It was reported that the accident happened few yards away from an intersection at Fowler Street, Fort Myers. The driver of a Subaru Legacy reported lost control of the car after driving through the intersection, police said.

Eyewitnesses said the driver of the Subaru drove recklessly through the intersection and crashed into the building. It was not clear if the incident was as a result of a mechanical issues or substance impairment. Eyewitnesses said it happened very fast.

Officials say the car was severely damaged. The store was closed when the crash happened, nonetheless a pedestrian was struck in the process.

EMS managed to extricate the three passengers that were in the car, authorities said. They have been transported, along with the pedestrian, to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

Building inspectors are assessing the damage and police is investigating the crash.
