Police said a driver ran his car into another car while trying to outrun the red light at the Treeline Avenue and Colonial Avenue intersection.
A Honda Accord T-boned a Subaru sedan while attempting to outrun the red light at the intersection, witnesses reported. The 30-year-old driver of the Subaru sustained serious injuries and paramedics transported the driver to a nearby hospital.
Additionally, the Honda driver, a 27-year-old man, and the 53-year-old female passenger in the car also sustained injuries. Paramedics also transported them to a nearby hospital. Both cars suffered extensive damage from the collision.
The Police Department has yet to issue a statement pertaining to the crash. The victims’ medical condition is reportedly life-threatening, although EMS confirmed the victims were in stable condition while they transported them to the hospital.
Police shut down the intersection at Treeline Avenue for several hours to clear the scene of the accident.
Fort Myers Police continues to investigate the crash.
