A 17-year-old male bicyclist is in a critical condition after traveling into the path of a vehicle on Southwest 31st Avenue.

It was reported that the accident happened at the intersection of Glendale Road and Southwest 31st Avenue at Melrose Park. Police said this happened when the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on Glendale Road and entered the intersection of Southwest 31st Avenue.

He traveled into the path of a Toyota Corolla heading southbound on Southwest 31st Avenue. Officers said he collided with the side of the vehicle and was thrown off the bicycle. The impact left him with serious and multiple injuries.

Broward EMS responded to a distress call and arrived at the scene within few moments of the accident. The cyclist was immediately transported to the nearest hospital.

No other details about the victim have been released to the press yet.

No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
