An 18-year-old woman died when two cars collided on I-75 in Fort Myers. Four other persons were reported to have sustained injuries during the collision.

The victim was confirmed dead at the scene of the accident by the authorities. It was gathered that her car was struck by a sedan on Interstate-75. The impact was so violent it resulted in the death of the young woman.

The driver of the sedan, and the two passengers with him, sustained minor injuries.  According to the authorities, the driver of the sedan was driving above the posted speed limit.  This was observed by a witness right before the the time of the crash.  It is assumed that this is a contributing factor in the severity of the impact.  The driver and passengers were taken to the nearest medical center for prompt attention.

According to the authorities, the crash is still under investigation to ascertain all of the factors that contributed to this accident.  I-75 was shut down in both directions for almost 3 hours as a result of the crash with injuries.
