The report says five people sustained various injuries in a multi-vehicle accident on State Highway 9 after a semi-truck loses control trying to pass another vehicle.
According to the troopers, a driver in a red semi-truck lost control of the vehicle while passing a semi-truck on State Highway 9 that led to a multi-vehicle crash. Officers reported that the crash pileup involved two semi-trucks, a SUV and a pick-up truck. It was reported that the red semi-truck, driven by a 45-year-old man, was traveling at a high rate of speed before the accident happened.
The red semi-truck sideswiped the second semi as it attempted to pass it in the left-hand lane causing a chain-reaction of collisions. Two other vehicles, SUV and the pick-up truck, were hit as they were traveling in the right-hand lane on the road, police said.
There were two occupants in each of the two semi-trucks, the SUV and the pick-up truck, police said. EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer first aid to the injured victims in the incident. Emergency crews reported that only one of the occupants in one of the semi-trucks was not injured, while the other five people involved in the accident sustained various injuries.
Officials say the incident is still under investigation and no further details were released.
