According to police, a car struck a 6-year-old boy who was waiting for school bus.
Authorities report that the boy was struck by the car as he prepared to board the school bus. The victim has been identified as Nathan Guest. It was reported that he did sustained injuries on his cheeks and forehead. His family is relieved and thankful that he is safe and his injuries were not life threatening.
Nathan’s grandfather, Marcus Drury, stated that Nathan was running to get on the school bus, which had stopped in front of their home. The crash happened because another driver did not slow down fast enough even though the school bus’s flashing lights were on.
According to Mr. Drury, the driver couldn’t stop in time. She hit the brakes, but the car struck Nathan and threw him about ten feet. Subsequently, he landed on the ground near a trash can; however, he did not lose consciousness.
Mr. Drury added that Nathan’s head and cheek were bleeding.
When the driver got out of her car, Mr. Drury shouted for her to call 911. Nathan was rushed to the hospital, where he is recuperating.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. Skid marks were seen on the road outside the family’s home.
Marc Anidjar, from the Law Firm of Anidjar & Levine, comments: “In representing a prior client of ours with similar type of situation, client was boarding the County bus which was outfitted with cameras that caught every angle of the accident scene. Because it was a city bus, we were able to get the film footage under the freedom for information act. The steps taken immediately after an accident are perhaps the most important.”

“We are sorry to hear about this serious accident. Whenever a child is injured in an accident it is concerning, especially when he or she is about to board their school bus. Although no injury is okay and acceptable to any parent when their is a child involved, fortunately the injuries are not life threatening. We wish Nathan a speedy recovery.”
