School Teacher Hit By A Motorcyclist On Bayview Drive

A spokesman for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department reports that a school teacher was severely injured after being struck by a motorcycle on Bayview Drive.

The spokesman said that the motorcyclist was riding along Bayview Drive when the accident happened. It was reported that he failed to navigate a curve in the road and struck a curb. He then lost control, swerved and crashed the motorcycle into a light pole striking a victim in the process.

The victim was identified as a 32-year-old school teacher who was walking along the sidewalk on Bayview Drive. Eyewitnesses said that the victim was in serious pain and later unresponsive before EMS arrived. Emergency crews confirmed that the victim had sustained severe injuries and was transported to the hospital in a life support system, officials said.

The motorcyclist also suffered serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries and was seen by EMS.

Officials say the incident is still under investigation and no further details were released.
