Authorities reported a tragic accident on I-95 in Miami involving two vehicles that left a pregnant woman critically injured.

According to officials, the crash happened on Interstate 95 when the driver of a Mercedes Benz, driven by a 35-year-old driver, struck the woman driving a Toyota Corolla from behind. The impact ejected her from the vehicle.

She sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. It is unconfirmed at the time of this report if her unborn child would survive the crash.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz was visibly shaken by the accident. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

All lanes were closed while road crews cleared the scene. All lanes have since reopened. No other details were immediately released.  An investigation is still ongoing.
