It was reported that a 44-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle accident on Riverland Road.

According to the police report, the accident occurred when a 2010 Ford Explorer was heading northbound on Riverland Road near Southwest 20th Street. A 30-year-old man reportedly drove the SUV.

The crash happened when the Ford SUV veered off into the oncoming westbound lanes, police said. The SUV struck a 2009 Buick Encore , forcing both vehicles off the road.

The driver of the Encore, a 21-year-old female, reportedly sustained injuries in the crash. The passenger in her vehicle, a 24-year-old female, sustained life-threatening injuries. Presently, the medical condition of the Encore driver is unknown.

EMS arrived on the scene and they transported the Encore occupants to the closest hospital. The Explorer driver only sustained minor injuries; paramedics treated him at the scene.

Police are still investigating the cause and contributing factors of the accident. No further details have been released to the public yet and charges have not been filed at this time.
