According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Deadly Accident Happened Near the Dolphin Expressway Exit Claiming the Life of a 66-Year-Old Man.
The report says witnesses have described the incident as disturbing.
FHP reported that a 29-year-old man was driving on Dolphin Expressway when the pedestrian walked across the highway in front of his car.
Neighbors who live near the accident scene said it is not safe coupled with the fact that walking on the expressway is illegal. Grapeland Heights resident said “I was like wow, somebody walking on Dolphin Expressway? I think it’s kind of crazy to do that.”
Other neighbors said the victim’s car may have been broken down which caused him to walk along the expressway. Even with car troubles or an emergency, they said it is a risk to leave a vehicle and walk since the cars travel so fast.
FHP is still trying to determine if more than one car hit the victim.
