Fort Lauderdale police said a vehicle struck a pedestrian on Riverland Road at Oak River, leaving the pedestrian severely injured.
Authorities said the accident occurred near the intersection of Southwest 16th Court on Riverland Road. It was reported that a 24-year-old pedestrian was hit by a Chevrolet by a 31-year-old woman. The woman reportedly lost control of the Chevy and swerved uncontrollably though at a slow speed which minimized the impact.
This pedestrian involved in the accident reportedly sustained severe injuries. The man had injuries to the head and back. Authorities also made it known that the injuries sustained by the pedestrian are not life-threatening.
EMS crew reportedly arrived at the scene of the accident to attend to the people involved. It was not reported whether or not the driver of the car sustained any injuries.
It was reported that Fort Lauderdale EMS transported the pedestrian to the nearest hospital for.
No charge has been filed yet. Fort Lauderdale Police are still investigating the accident.
