The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Says One Person was Killed After a Crash Involving a School Bus and a Car.
JSO said the crash happened in the 300 block of Lee Road in Jacksonville just before 2 p.m.
According to a tweet from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, no children were on the bus during the crash.
Officials said a female bus driver was leaving a service yard on Lee Road and headed to pick up kids when a Jeep Cherokee crashed into the back of the bus.
The driver was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said. Crews had to rescue the driver of the Jeep who they said was trapped inside his vehicle.
The bus driver did not injured.
JSO said excessive speed may have played a role in the crash.
