One person is dead and two other people suffered minor injuries after an accident on Rickenbacker Causeway at Biscayne Bay, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the report, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes Rickenbacker Causeway. This accident was consequential of a previous crash. Report says a Dodge Ram came to a stop on the highway in the inside center lane. A Toyota Tundra was heading east on Rickenbacker Causeway in the center lane when the incident occurred.

Troopers said the Toyota failed to observe the stopped Dodge. Consequently, the front of the Toyota collided with the right rear side of the Dodge. There was no occupant in the Dodge when the accident happened; both people who had been inside the Dodge were on the left shoulder, report says.

Due to the extent of the collision, the Dodge was reportedly pushed onto the left shoulder, colliding with one person standing there. The person was then propelled over the metal barrier that divided the westbound and eastbound lanes. That victim suffered minor injuries.

According to the report, the driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the hospital and a passenger in the Toyota suffered minor injuries in the crash.
