Officials reported that a police officer has been involved in a car accident on North Ocean Boulevard.
Reports confirmed the crash happened when the officer ran over debris with his patrol motorcycle. The accident occurred along North Ocean Boulevard near Northeast 27th Street intersection.
Authorities said, the officer attempted to stop a vehicle near Northeast 27th Street intersection when the accident occurred. While trying to pull the vehicle over, his motorcycle ran over debris in the roadway causing the officer to lose control.
Eyewitnesses claimed the officer was thrown from the motorcycle after the crash. According to reports, emergency crews took him to a nearby hospital to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The details of the injuries sustained and the identity of the officer has not been made public.
Authorities said the northbound lane of North Ocean Boulevard was closed while they responded to the crash. The road was later reopened after the motorcycle and the debris were cleared from the road.
