Northeast 10th Avenue Accident: Police Officer Injured After Being Struck

Authorities reported that a police officer was struck by a vehicle while attending to a stranded motorist on Northeast 10th Avenue.

The report says the accident involved a Chrysler SUV and a Toyota Hilux truck on Northeast 10th Avenue, near Military Trail Park Area. The accident occurred when a police officer was offering assistance to the driver of the Toyota truck. This was after the Toyota broke down on the side of the road, police reported. The driver of the Chrysler SUV ignored a caution sign and ran into the truck along with the policeman and the driver.

It was reported that the policeman and the driver of the Chrysler SUV sustained serious injuries, EMS said. Fortunately, the crash was not fatal. The driver of the Toyota truck also suffered injuries from the crash. EMS transported the three victims to the nearest hospital, authorities confirmed.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Marc Anidjar, from the Law Firm of Anidjar and Levine, comments on this crash:  “This was a serious accident that left an officer seriously injured.  Accidents like this are one of the most dangerous kinds of accidents. This type of accident usually happens because of driver error, meaning they are preventable. Sadly, the innocent victims of these crashes are rendered powerless: often, there’s nothing you can do when an oncoming vehicle is bearing down on you.  We wish that all involved have a speedy recovery from their injuries in this terrible accident.”
