Law enforcement authorities report that a motorcyclist was critically injured in an accident after he was hit by the driver of a SUV on FL-228 in Jacksonville.

According to a news release by authorities, the accident happened when a motorcyclist was driving west on FL-228 in Jacksonville. The motorcycle driver was struck by a silver SUV after it made an illegal U-turn on the road.

EMS arrived to the scene of the accident shortly after it happened to administer first aid to the injured motorcyclist. They reported that the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition having sustained serious injuries. The male driver of the SUV was not injured in the crash. He remained at the scene of the collision and fully cooperated with the law enforcement officials.

The victim’s name has not been released by officials at the time of this report and they say the crash remains under active investigation.
