Law enforcement officials say a 45-year-old motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries when he tried to avoid an accident with a teenage driver on Treeline Avenue.

According to reports, the motorcyclist was headed eastbound on Treeline Avenue when a Honda Accord, driven by a 16-year-old female from Gateway, drove into his path causing him to crash. The teenage driver turned left from Plantation Gardens Drive onto Treeline Avenue, entering the motorcyclist’s path.

According to law enforcement officials, he tried to avoid the impact by laying down his Yamaha motorcycle onto its left side. He was thrown from the motorcycle and then he and the motorcycle, struck the left side of the Accord driven by the teenager.

EMS arrived at the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer first aid to the injured victims. Emergency crews reported that the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the nearby hospital by ambulance soon after EMS arrived. The 16-year-old sustained minor injuries and was treated at the accident scene before she was released by authorities and EMS.

Officials say the incident is still under investigation and no further details were released.
