A report says an officer has been severely injured after he was involved in a motorcycle accident on Evans Avenue.
It was reported that the crash happened at the intersection of Evans Avenue and Park Windsor Drive. Authorities said the police officer was on his way to a call about a person armed with a gun. A Nissan Pilot in front of his motorcycle suddenly swerved, navigating a turn without any warning signal.
The officer’s motorcycle struck the driver’s side door of the truck and he was thrown off the motorcycle. According to the police, the officer suffered multiple injuries including a broken leg and fractured ribs.
The report says the injured officer was airlifted to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.
According to the police, the emergency he was riding towards ended up being a false alarm.
Police are investigating the crash and no charges have been filed yet.
