Police reported that one person suffered head trauma in an accident on Delaware Parkway after his minivan was hit by a SUV that was traveling in the wrong direction.
The official report stated that the accident happened when a minivan, driven by a 30-year-old man, was heading southbound on Delaware Parkway. The minivan was struck by a SUV heading in the wrong direction, leaving the driver in the SUV trapped in his vehicle and severely injured.
Officials did not give an official statement saying why the SUV was traveling in the wrong direction and they say the incident is still under investigation as they look into the actual cause of the crash.
EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer on-site first aid to the injured victims in the incident. Emergency crews reported that the driver of the minivan was badly injured and had to be extricated from his vehicle by rescue workers.
EMS then transported him to the nearest hospital for treatment while the driver of the Honda SUV sustained only minor injuries in the accident. He was reportedly treated at the scene of the accident by EMS crews.
Police say the SUV driver will likely be charged for breaking traffic laws as he was driving in the wrong direction leading to the crash. No further details have been released by authorities.
Glen Levine, from the Law Firm of Anidjar and Levine, comments on this crash: “This was a serious accident that left people with serious injuries. Head-on accidents are one of the most dangerous kinds of accidents. This type of accident usually happens because of driver error, meaning they often are preventable. Sadly, the innocent victims of these crashes are rendered powerless: often, there’s nothing you can do when an oncoming vehicle is bearing down on you, except brace for impact. We hope that all involved have a speedy recovery.”
